Remedy

I may not be a spring chicken any more but I try to keep up with the latest trendsetters but most of the time it's a case of “heard it all before” and bands that radio and magazine rave about are frankly pedestrian, delivering music that is lacking in any soul or tangible hunger but, once in while, a CD gets thrust into your hand that takes you by surprise and the self released debut from North East band Remedy just happens to be one of those.

All nine tracks here are played in a fashion that screams, “we really feel and mean what we’re playing and singing about”,  it’s a real tonic and actually rather refreshing compared to most of what you hear these days. In vocalist Jen Cherene they have a singer blessed with the ability to spit out  words one moment then follow it up with gorgeous and smooth passages, whilst guitarist Graham Haswell's riffs are equally parts crunchy and punchy. For a four piece this band have a tangible chemistry and when they rock out in full flow it’s a glorious sound and for all those people who love the raunch of Led Zeppelin or even Montrose this band satisfy in bucket loads.

Remedy are a band with all of the right ingredients and if you are looking for a new band with the ability to produce something that can be called the genuine rock article look no further than these guys - and one girl!
