First of all
apologies to the band for the delay in reviewing this EP. I
was just getting to the end of the last batch of review
albums when the old computer completely expired. It’s taken
a while to get up and running again so here goes.
Clearly with a
moniker like that Insinerate are from the Thrash/Hardcore
end of things. Thankfully they try to live up to their name
with a fiery performance but what saves this from being just
another run of the mill effort is that Insinerate also doff
their caps towards traditional British metal acts like
Maiden and Priest. There’s also a touch of Accept in
there, especially on ‘Punish the
Preacher’ with its wacky chorus. (Udo would be proud.) But
don’t be fooled. This is ‘eavy stuff with fine performances
from the band that also include some good old fashioned
Thrash double-bass drumming from, er, Dave.
It’s a lesson to us
all in that there is no harm at all in showing your
influences as long as you still try to be yourselves. On
that score this a promising mini-album that should also
appeal to more traditional Metal fans
