Bad Love & Licker have a
riff and they know how to use it. The problem is they’ve used it
four times over the four tracks of this independent CD.
Considering there’s only four songs here it’s all remarkably samey.
Vocalist Lee, clearly no one has a surname anymore in the world of
cyberspace, sounds like he’s gargling gravel coated with
cyanide. He really should see a doctor. Nath on guitar
almost saves the day with some monster, if uninventive,
riffing but all in all this is very average fare. ‘Camera! Action!
Lipstick! Lights!’ is the best on offer ending, as it does,
with a fine impersonation of the Beastie Boys circa
mid-eighties when they did their Rap-Metal thing.
Summing up there’s
nothing here to really spark the imagination and make me
want to go out and see this lot. It’s all been done before,
only a whole lot better.
