Edguy - New Album On The Way

Edguy have entered Gate Studios in Wolfsburg to begin work on the follow-up to their last albumn album "Rocket Ride". The new CD, which will be produced by Sascha Paeth, is scheduled to be released in November 2008 and has been christened "Tinnitus Sanctus"

Vocalist Tobias Sammet has issued the following update on how the album is coming along: "The title just refers to the wall of sound that will bulldoze you. Let’s be modest: We have ten extraordinary songs and this new album is gonna be our ticket to the hall of fame alongside with LED ZEPPELIN, BLACK SABBATH and AC/DC. There won’t be a hit-single this time, not even a flop-single, haha; not only because most songs are too long for a single, but also because for a single we had to produce way more stuff, lose money and need a time frame to release it. The album would come later then and that would suck. For the record: Musically, we don’t go back to the roots. It’s not the "Legacy of Mandrake part 2" and it’s not a little brother of Rocket Ride either. It’s a new album and we’ve set off to new horizons once more! The stuff sounds really broad, very anthemic, heavy and ballsy. We’ve kept our trademarks and still there are a lot of elements that are different to anything we’ve done before. I know what some fans may think, because if my favourite bands would have come up with statements like that I would have been scared to death, but in our case I am sure this could be the album we’ll be measured by in the future."

Paganini - new Album Details

Paganini are to release a new album, entitled Medicine Man, on July11th via PaZouZou/ NL Distribution

In the early 1980's, Marco Paganini was the lead vocalist in the Hannover based rock group Viva. At the time he was singing in the pioneering English metal band Tygers of Pan Tang, when he was discovered by Barbara Schenker at a double bill with The Scorpions. Rudolph Schenker invited him to join them on their return to Germany and taking them up on the offer Marco and Barbara formed Viva together. Being one of the top European acts at the time, Marco recorded 2 LP's with Viva, before embarking on a solo career.

Along with Viva guitarist Ralph Murphy, Marco returned to Switzerland to form the group Paganini. Their first release "Weapon of love", spawned the hit "Berlin by night", which reached the charts in Germany thru, and as well landed on the movie soundtrack for "Alpha city". The follow-up album "It's a long way to the top" saw chart action again and earned them the offer of support act for Motley Crue on their "Theater of pain" tour.

Several releases followed thru the years including the album "Detox" which Marco recorded together with Angie Schiliro, one time guitarist with Kingdom Come . Two singles entitled "My life" and "Follow the sun" saw Marco reunited with his old producer Vic Vergeat of the rock group "Toad"

In 2003, the current incarnation of Paganini was formed and recorded the Long Play CD "Esoterrorism" and the follow up CD "Resurrection". After touring in support of those CD's they teamed up with Gerhard Magin (Crematory, Mystic Circle, etc) to record a full length CD of new original material entitled "Medicine Man". This new release will be their second on their own label "PaZouZou Records", which is distributed worldwide by NL Distibution of Germany.

House of Shakira - III + Live At Sweden Rock DVD

Hot on the heels of last years "Retoxed" comes the long awaited reissue of Swedish melodic rockers House Of Shakira's long out of print yet highly sought after third album "III". Regarded at the time of release as an essential slice of melodic rock scoring a massive 98% at melodicrock.com its reputation has only increased over the subsequent years.

"III" saw the early House Of Shakira sound as displayed on the bands classic debut "Lint" and follow up "On The Verge" pumped up a little more with even more infectious songs delivered with world class precision, passion and energy that have since gone on to be the bands trademark. Many of these tracks heard on "III" have gone on to be HOS live favourites and now thanks to demand from fans worldwide the album is available once again with the added bonus of a "limited edition" 11 track multi camera live DVD "Live At Sweden Rock Festival 2006" featuring a "best of" song selection from the bands catalogue of work on July 18th 2008 via Lion Music.

On the album bassist Per Schelander comments, "III has always been a favourite by everybody in the band. We had a lot of time in the studio and we were well prepared and knew exactly what we should do. This is also our only record where Mikael Eriksson (the bands original vocalist) didn't do background vocals cause he was busy with his own career. Listening to it today I think it contents the ultimate mix between very radio friendly songs and more odd ones".

When quizzed on his memory of the Sweden Rock Festival gig documented on the DVD Per reminisces, "Around 7 a clock in the morning on the 6th of June we jumped the van that was going to take us to Sweden rock festival. We arrived about one hour before the show and checked out our catering and became very happy as someone by mistake had put a bottle of vodka there! It is not in our rider so it must have been placed there for the band after us… Never mind… we hooked up our gear and by the time that was done the stage manager shouted "SHOWTIME". So without even changing clothes from the bus ride we ran on stage and performed. The crowd was fantastic and after the show we got all thumbs-up from the stage crew. Anders saw that the bottle of vodka was still in the catering so he told me to pack his gear took the bottle and ran away. We didn't see him during the rest of the festival". Going by the live footage such a celebration is well deserved.

III & Live At Sweden Rock will be released via Lion Music on July 18th and features the following track listing:

III
Pellucid Part.1, Alien, Wings, In Your Head, Nearly Orgasmic, Black & Blues Skies, Splitted Hairs, Miracle, Rainbows & Butterflies, Time That Passed, Unspoken, I Am, Unforgiven and Pellucid Part.2

Iced Earth - New Album On The Way

SPV will release the new album from Iced Earth, entitled The Crucible Of Man on Sept 8th.

"The Crucible of Man" features the return of frontman Matt Barlow who was Schaffer’s original voice of choice to introduce the "Something Wicked" saga back in 1998 as a trio of songs which concluded their album, "Something Wicked This Way Comes."

While the 1998 album provided a general overview of the story Schaffer has been conceptualizing for well over a decade, the saga is being fully brought to life with the release of the back-to-back conceptual albums "Framing Armageddon" and "The Crucible of Man." While both albums provide answers to mysteries the previous releases would create, the timeliness of the story in today’s world is guaranteed to keep people thinking and guessing. Schaffer’s ability to convey the central themes and events of the story without always revealing exactly “why” characters’ decisions are made and “how” events come to pass, will keep fans of the saga coming back as future mediums for the "Something Wicked" storyline are revealed.

Bison Sign To Metal Blade

Metal Blade Records is very pleased to announce the signing of Vancouver Canada’s BISON, a band just as heavy as the beast they are named after.

When BISON took its first step amps were scorched and drums were smashed. Born of the ashes of seminal Vancouver skate-thrash band S.T.R.E.E.T.S., BISON are every headbanger’s dream. Their riffs are colossal and flow like a mighty river into a sea of fuzzed out shredding. Their message is punk rock angst and revolution, with the occasional nod to white wizards, the king of swine and a mythical beast called the "Stokasaurus". Their debut album ‘Earthbound’ captured their massive live sound on tape, garnering international recognition and a deal with Metal Blade Records.

BISON is currently recording their Metal Blade debut ‘Quiet Earth’ with Jesse Gander (3 Inches of Blood, Subhumans, Mass Grave, S.T.R.E.E.T.S.) at The Hive Studios in Burnaby, BC and are currently slated for a fall 2008 release. Here’s what BISON has to say about their new deal with Metal Blade: "We are pleased that our newly forged alliance with the dark lords of the blade has come to fruition. We shall slay with honor and wasted servitude. Using the awesome power of the riff, we shall lay waste, in solidarity with the legions of the righteous soldiers of metal. Now as one, we look to the future to conquer for generations to come."BISON has all the ingredients we look for in a successful band; strong work ethic, great live band, good support team and a sound straight out of a BISON stampeded, thundering and brutal”

Heavy Heavy Low Low

Forget everything you thought you knew about Heavy Heavy Low Low. On August 18th HHLL will release "Turtle Nipple and the Toxic Shock" a record that is bound to be a pinnacle of their recording career.

Taking the direction of, but not limited to an early release on SST, Dischord, or Touch and Go, HHLL thrives on a formula of minimalist punk energy, choppy tempos and the most bastardized take on prog rock you’ve probably ever heard. With sprinkles of glitchy keyboards, slabs of noisecore and frantic lyrics tossed in the mix, Turtle Nipple will get the rocks off for HHLL's endless legions of fans and usher in a throng of new ones.

When asked to describe the band's current direction, drummer Christopher Fritter states "I'd say this new CD brings my mind to another level. At times I just want to cry while listening to it. Then randomly I just want to hit a fool in the face." Spoken like a true craftsman who took part in creating this bipolar cacophony of an album. Yes, it will mess with your head but it'll prove to be the most exhilarating mind fuck you'll probably ever have.

Tracklist for Toxic Shock:
