Greetings form the early 80’s, 1981 to be
precise and another reissue, this time courtesy
of AOR FM and it's the second Thrills album Front
Page News complete with an unreleased bonus
track. Rather than straight up AOR the Thrills
were purveyors of a more pomp orientated style
along the lines of Touch, Roadmaster and with a
rather large dollop of New England..
Keyboard driven hard rock with fantastic
melodies and soaring vocals may not exactly be
in vogue in 2008 but back in 1981 it pretty much
ruled the airwaves, at least in the US and, if
not the most famous exponents of the genre then
the Thrills were certainly as good as some who
were. Great songs like You Don’t Remember Me,
which builds majestically and the tour de force
that is the title track should have meant that
the band were bigger than they ever were. Sadly
it was not to be but, thanks to the
wonders of the re-mastering process Front Page
News stands the test of time and is one to look
out for if pomp is your cup of tea.
