Get Dead Or Die Trying is the new album from The Rotted, who
have gone through a bit of a transformation since being
known as Gorerotted. Musically they have mellowed with the
name change and they also state that they have now moved
onto writing lyrics about their life experiences.
They don’t hold back on the opening two tracks of ‘Nothin’
But A Nosebleed’ and ‘The Howling’ though, these are as loud and
vicious as the band get and they even step things up a bit with ‘A
Return To Insolence’, when it starts with ‘Let’s tear this
fucking place down’ you believe them, it takes the
metal/death metal of the opening salvo but manages to
add that something extra to it. ‘Angel Of Meth’ mixes in some almost Pantera style riffs
along with some great solos and death metal growls before
the first of two instrumentals, the melodic ‘A Brief Moment
Of Regret’, which has been added to the Topshop/Topman in
store playlist. For some reason the high street chain
decided on the mellow track from the album rather than using
a song such as ‘Get Dead Or Die Trying’, with it’s fuzzy
guitar groove or ‘It’s Like There’s A Party In My Mouth…’,
which is based on someone eating their own sick when a
little the worse for wear.
Get Dead Or Die Trying is chock full of highlights and if
this album is anything to go by then change is a very good
thing for the Rotted indeed.
