With the Nightmares Of The Ocean EP the UK’s The Arusha Accord throw absolutely everything they have into their music, the result of which is that their experimental, progressive metal feels like an overall piece of music rather than individual songs.
The six piece band includes two vocalists, and this may help
explain the chaotic feeling that is evident in places, the variations in speed and time changes
aren't a problem, rather the issue revolves around the fact that it sounds as if the band are
trying to play three or four different songs at the same
time. One vocalist is screaming while the other adds melodic emo
passages, and the singing doesn't change
drastically regardless of whether there are guitar solos,
slower moments or breakdowns.
OK so the songs do chop and change a lot, however what The Arusha
Accord do, they do well, and if the style of music of bands
like The Dillinger Escape Plan and Sikth is to your taste
then this is a band worth looking into.
