It's not often an album with such balls to the wall
caliber hits you like Dear Superstars new full
length album ‘Heartless’. The quintet, who hail from
Manchester, have made waves both in Britain and
overseas, with support slots alongside bands such as
Bullet For My Valentine and Kids In Glass Houses,
and with future tours with Firewind and Hanoi Rocks
soon to be under their belts the sky seems to be the
limit for them.
Opening track Brink of Destruction sets the tone
from the off kicking right in with some serious hard
rock riffing, only to head into a chorus which will
have you shouting from the rooftops, and it just
doesn’t stop from then on in. The aural assault
continues right the way throughout the album, with
tracks such as ‘Raised Voices And Confrontations’
and ‘Diseased And Distraught’ reminiscent of latter
day Papa Roach, or Motley Crue. The vocal work of
frontman Micky Satiar, at times lyrically so crude
and filthy Nikki Sixx would cringe, but with member
nicknames such as ‘The Minge’ you don’t really
expect something of the most tasteful character.
‘Live Love Life’ , which features Bullet For My
Valentine, is without doubt the highlight of the
album with soaring melodies and an excellent fusion
of both modern day metalcore and age old hard rock.
The album finishes with the softer sounding ‘Can’t
Write A Love Song’ which rounds off the release
rather nicely, the band showing off both their
musical and vocal versatility. Heartless is a
guaranteed cert for any hair metallers or those
wanting to some sleaze in new music. If you like
your metal downright and dirty, this is an essential
purchase.
